SPECIAL GUEST + NEW RESIDENT HIGHLIGHT:

Debapriya
Debapriya – Special Guest from India
Debapriya was introduced to dance at an age of 8 and due to early training years in Bharatanatyam, she realised that dance was going to be an essential part of life. She has spend her formative years training in Bharatanatyam from Nalanda Dance Research Institute, Mumbai, India under Guru Dr. Uma Rele.
She was introduced to belly dance in 2013 and since then there has been no looking back for her. She realised that the only way to grow her knowledge in this art form was to travel and meet the master teachers all over the world and learn from them. Hence this is her second time in the US for the purpose of learning and educating herself.
She is also trained in kathak, basic ballet, jazz and contemporary dance forms. In India she is a freelance dancer and likes to use dance as a medium to express and narrate stories with a social message.
Anastasia
Anastasia – Long time supporter, please welcome our newest resident performer

Anastasia has felt a deep attraction to music and dances of the Middle East since she was a kid. Many travels, dance styles and adventures later, she has finally found her true dance home here in the bay area tribal fusion belly dance community. Anastasia’s wish, when she dances, is to reflect back as best she can all the gifts she has been given, all of the joy she has been swimming in since she has arrived!

Kara Gwyn – Special Guest

Kara Gwyn discovered her long awaited passion for belly dance four years ago on the beautiful island of Maui. While dancing with Maui Belly Groove, she began her journey experimenting with various styles of fusion, inspired by her love of swing dance, tribal fusion, and contemporary influences. Kara relocated to the Bay Area last year to continue her training with the countless incredible teachers the area has to offer. She’s currently working on personal projects, dancing with Little Egypt, and is thrilled to be joining the dance community here.

Anji
Anji – Resident dancer from Germany, joining us whenever she visits SF

Anji is a bellydancer from Germany, currently travelling all over the westcoast to study and share the art of bellydance. She became obsessed with fusion bellydance in 2007, when Bay Area artists like Ariellah, Kami Liddle, Rachel Brice and Sharon Kihara brought this style to Germany. With this current journey, she is fulfilling her dream. She is very excited and grateful for the opportunity to share at this legendary venue!
