This week marks the birthday of the late Cheb i Sabbah, one of Underground Nomads’ esteemed co-founders and one of our dear friends and inspirations. Tuesday we will celebrate his life and the contributions he made to the world music and dance communities. Cheb i Sabbah’s music created the foundation for legendary dance music parties featuring global sound with bass fusion. He had a major hand in events that created a community and an outlet for American Tribal Style, Tribal and tribal fusion dancers to perform and share their art at a time when their style was considered controversial. Underground Nomads continues this tradition with our Tuesday night weekly hoping to carry the torch lit by Cheb i Sabbah.
This week Suresh is on the decks, carrying on in his stead and bringing you music to get you up and dancing. He is joined by our fantastic line-up of diverse, local dancers: Paige Lawrence, Verbatim, Azure, and Nathalie Tedrick’s Student Showcase. Come celebrate Chebiji’s life and accomplishments with us!
