This week we celebrate the birthday of one of our favorite Dance Performance Artists KAMI LIDDLE, featuring Kami herself, residents FatChanceBellyDance and Jodi Waseca’s debut performance at Underground Nomads. All sorts of goodness, and that’s just the dance performance section of the night (10pm).
Rockin the dancefloor will be Janaka Selekta and DJ Amar (and possibly Cheb i Sabbah*)
Janaka is back from India for a few shows with God’s Robots, and will be joining us for a Worldly style DJ set. Amar will be dropping a multi-cultural, multi-genre set. Last week, Janaka and Amar filled in for Cheb i Sabbah, and will be back again this week for more on their scheduled night. *It is possible that Chebiji will join us if he is feeling well enough to come out and play. Either way, the night will be for him, and proceeds will go to help with his continued cancer treatment. We will post an update Tuesday evening. Check back here for a new post, if you wan’t to check in to see if Chebiji will come and play. Your support by coming will help him either way.
One of the pioneers of SF’s Asian Massive scene known for his WORLDLY nights and DHAMAAL events, now producing some of the richest sounding electronic dub beats fused with classical Indian sound creating a unique mix on the dancefloor. Janaka has been performing with Cheb i Sabbah and subbing for him at his legendary Tuesdays at Nickies over the years. Amar had been subbing for Chebiji in the more recent years. This will be a bit of a special reunion on the Tuesday night dancefloor, at a great new venue on a great new eclectic night that the Underground Nomads crew has brought to SF.
